The Octane User Group

Yet another successful event! The Octane User Group :: Delhi was hosted at the Hilton Garden Inn, DLF Place (Saket) on the 8th of August, 2012.

This was the fourth time TOUG was hosted in Delhi and it keeps getting bigger and better with every meet!

The topic of discussion for the TOUG meet, Delhi was ‘Spark to Flame – India’s strongest and most successful social media campaign’. While it’s common to see corporate campaigns create brand awareness through huge advertisement spends on social media, its rather rare to see someone so passionately use the power of social media to drive immense awareness and impact the lives of millions of people for a national cause. And the most interesting part was that all this was done with zero budget.

Event Speaker:

shivendra-singh-chauhan-8-aug-2012 It was our privilege to have Mr. Shivendra Singh Chauhan as the speaker for this meet. Mr. Chauhan is the man behind the success of one of the most influential social media campaign – India Against Corruption. He is an experienced journalist-activist and has worked in various news networks like IBN7, Aaj Tak and Navbharat Times.

He spoke on the topic: “Spark to flame – India’s strongest and most successful social media campaign”.

Mr. Chauhan shared with the audience the various online campaigns that he has been a part of, including Commonwealth Jhel and India Against Corruption. Commonwealth Jhel, as the name suggests, was initiated to reveal the corruption involved in the Commonwealth Games. Post this, he started work on India’s biggest social media campaign till date – ‘India Against Corruption’. He explained to the audience the various important factors that help formulate a great social media campaign, i.e. interesting content, easy to understand logos/symbols, multi lingual reach and clarity of message. He also emphasized on how effective social media can be in order to create mass awareness.
